At the beginning of the year, Volkswagen announced that the latest Tiguan wouldn't receive a seven-seater derivative, the AllSpace as we know it, but instead, it would be replaced by an all-new Tayron.

Officially revealed globally this week, the Tayron is the successor of the Volkswagen Tiguan AllSpace. Judging from many spy shots of the all-new Tayron before its reveal, we could deduce that it would share many similarities with its sibling, the Tiguan, both from an exterior and interior point of view. And that is certainly the case. To the untrained eye, one wouldn't be wrong for mistaking the Tayron for the Tiguan.

The exciting news is that we have it on good authority, thanks to a representative of Volkswagen South Africa, that it's expected to reach the South African market in the second half of 2025. Models, pricing, and local specifications remain to be seen at this stage.

The all-new Volkswagen Tayron, measuring around 4.8m in length, slots itself in between the Touareg and the Tiguan. Up front, the Tayron boasts LED headlights and a standard-fitted illuminated Volkswagen badge. The rear features a full-length LED crossbar and an illuminated Volkswagen logo.

Inside, the Tayron retains the look and feel of its Tiguan sibling, with a tablet-style infotainment touchscreen taking center stage. Materials such as ArtVelours Eco microfibre trimming and open-pore wood with illuminated decorative trim add to the premium look and feel of the Tayron.

A vast amount of standard-fitted driver assistance systems are available, such as adaptive cruise control, oncoming vehicle braking when turning function, lane change system, lane keeping system, automatic emergency braking system with pedestrian and cyclist monitoring, park assist plus, rearview camera, and dynamic road sign display. Customers may opt for optional equipment features such as adaptive chassis control, IQ.Light HD Matrix headlights with interactive lighting functions, IDA voice assistant with ChatGPT integration, a 700-watt Harmon Kardon sound system, and a tilting and sliding panoramic sunroof.
