The trusty Nissan NP200 we have all come to love over the last 16 years is being laid to rest in March of 2024.

Nissan NP200 Half Tonner.

Originally built as a collaboration project between Renault and Nissan, based on the Renault Logan. The NP200 found success as a reputable workhorse and has been the source of many start-ups in South Africa. With its economical engine and comfort, it was clear to see why it was the number one choice to go to since GM's departure and the end of the Bantam.

With the NP300 no longer being with us either leaves a gigantic hole in this market as there, realistically, only leaves the Navara left with about 1000KG(1 Tonne) loading capacity. This means that there has to be some sort of replacement for the NP200 at some point; probably. Although Nissan hasn't announced a replacement for the NP200, the Nissan-Renault-Mitsubishi team/alliance did confirm there are plans to create a new half-tonne replacement.

There is currently no news available as to why the NP200 is being axed - so while the news is bleak, the used market for the NP200 will be strong and after-sale support will continue for quite some time as well. This is a car that will be bought like hotcakes as it's filling a gap in the market and people will be seeking to capitalise on that.
