New Shogun derivative added to Mitsubishi Pajero range

Mitsubishi Motors South Africa has introduced a new variant of the Pajero Sport, featuring Shogun-inspired design elements. This new limited edition, based on the Aspire 4x4 model, is designed for off-road enthusiasts and families who enjoy adventure and will be positioned just below the Exceed trim level in the local market.

The Pajero Sport Shogun Limited Edition, developed locally, offers a blend of off-road capability and on-road comfort. According to Jeffrey Allison, general manager of Marketing at Mitsubishi Motors South Africa, the Pajero Sport has been well-received since its 2020 introduction, praised for its ability to combine rugged performance with family-friendly features.

The Shogun name is familiar to South African consumers, having been used in previous special edition Mitsubishi models. The new Pajero Sport Shogun distinguishes itself with various aesthetic enhancements and added equipment aimed at enhancing its off-road performance.

It features a Dynamic Shield front grille, black bonnet decal, and unique badging, along with a two-tone roof, black roof rails and 18-inch alloy wheels fitted with all-terrain tyres.

Additional equipment specific to the Shogun model includes a nudge bar, snorkel, side window deflectors, fender flares and rock sliders. The vehicle is equipped with Mitsubishi’s Super Select 4WD-II system, which offers four selectable off-road modes to optimise traction in challenging conditions.

Inside, the Pajero Sport Shogun retains the premium features of the Aspire model, including black leather seats, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, dual-zone climate control, and a multi-function leather steering wheel. The vehicle is also fitted with an eight-inch touchscreen display and advanced safety features such as seven crash bags, active stability and traction control and a rear-view camera.

The Pajero Sport Shogun is powered by a 2,4-litre MIVEC four-cylinder turbo diesel engine, delivering 133 kW and 430 Nm, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Mitsubishi has also included an extended two-year drivetrain warranty for this special edition, in addition to the standard 5-year/90 000 km service plan and roadside assistance.
