Lexus has expanded the NX range with the introduction of the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) NX 450h+, adding to its existing conventional combustion and self-charging hybrid powertrains
The 450h+ now tops the local NX range, making it the sixth variant and the new flagship, positioned above the NX 350h F Sport. Sharing the same trim level and all-wheel-drive system, it joins the RX 450h+ as the second PHEV model available locally.

The 450h+ combines a reliable 2,5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with an 18,1-kWh lithium-ion battery. This setup powers a 134 kW electric motor at the front and a 40 kW motor at the rear. Similar to Toyota's RAV4 Prime, the system in the NX delivers a total output of 227 kW, making it the most powerful NX to date.
It achieves 0-100 km/h in 6.3 seconds, reaches a top speed of 200 km/h and offers an all-electric range of 76 km.

Although it cannot be charged at a DC fast charger, Lexus states a 32-amp outlet will charge the 450h+ in two and a half hours. A CVT transmits power to all four wheels, as seen in the NX 350h.
The F Sport variant of the NX 450h+ includes 20-inch gloss black alloy wheels, F Sport bumpers, door sills, spindle grille, mirror caps, and adaptive LED headlights. The interior features dark graphite aluminium inserts, perforated leather seats in black or Circuit Red, an F Sport steering wheel and gear lever, alloy pedals, illuminated treadplates, and unique graphics on the 14-inch touchscreen and seven-inch digital instrument cluster.

The F Sport drive mode selector offers Eco, Normal, Sport, Sport+, and three hybrid settings: HY, full-electric EV, and Auto EV/HY, which switches to electric when the petrol engine is not needed. Standard features include dual-zone climate control, ventilated and power front seats with memory, a 10-speaker sound system, heated steering wheel, adjustable steering column, wireless smartphone charger, Head-Up Display, and a panoramic sunroof.
The NX 450h+ is equipped with Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, panoramic rear-view monitor, Lane Departure Warning, Pre-Collision Assist, Blind Spot Monitoring, Safe Exit Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Trace Assist, Park Assist, Active Cornering Assist, Lane Keep Assist, and a tyre pressure monitor.
The NX 450h+ comes with a seven-year/105,000 km maintenance plan and an eight-year/195,000 km battery warranty.
