Ford has launched its latest version of the Tourneo Trend, featuring a 2,0-litre Single Turbo (SiT) EcoBlue diesel engine that uses AdBlue diesel exhaust fluid to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions, converting them into harmless nitrogen and water.
The engine produces 100 kW of power at 3 500 r/min, delivering 360 Nm of torque between 1,750 r/min and 2 500 r/min. This power is transferred to the front wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission and drivers can also optimise performance by selecting from different driving modes, such as Eco and Tow/Haul, offering versatility in various driving conditions.
The Tourneo boasts an impressive towing capability, able to handle up to 2 500 kg with a braked trailer.

Inside, the front cabin is both stylish and packed with the latest technology, starting with a 13-inch touchscreen display powered by Ford’s SYNC4 infotainment system. This system offers wireless compatibility with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, as well as wireless charging. A 12-inch instrument cluster with an 8-inch configurable digital display complements the touchscreen.
Charging devices on the move is easy, thanks to an array of ports, including dual USB (A and C) ports, a 12V front socket, and additional rear sockets. A column-mounted shifter, available in the automatic model, frees up space in the front, making it easier to get in and out of the vehicle. Extra storage is provided by the roof-mounted front passenger crash bag, allowing room for larger items such as laptops or A4 folders.
The new Tourneo can accommodate up to eight passengers, making it ideal for both personal and business use and ride comfort and vehicle dynamics have been significantly improved with a next-generation chassis architecture and independent rear suspension.

According to Doreen Mashinini, Ford South Africa’s General Manager for Marketing, the Tourneo is designed for "active family trips or shuttling executives to the airport in style," offering a mix of comfort, connectivity and design.
The interior features a flexible seating system with tracks that allow the second and third-row seats to slide or be removed altogether, giving customers the option to reconfigure the space as needed. The second-row seats have integrated seatbelts, making reconfiguration quicker and easier. When the seats are removed, the Tourneo offers a spacious 6,8 cu/m of load volume, which can hold three standard Euro pallets. The vehicle also includes ISOFIX points on the second and third-row seats for added safety.
For those who prioritise comfort, the Tourneo offers dual-zone electronic climate control, heated seats and rear-seat climate controls. Practicality is enhanced with features such as a lower floor height, integrated side steps, and sliding side doors for easy access. Despite its spaciousness, the vehicle’s overall height remains under two metres, making it suitable for parking in most garages and multi-storey car parks.

Ford has also introduced a range of advanced safety and driver assistance systems in the Tourneo, such as Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Aid, Evasive Steering Assist and a 180-degree camera system. The vehicle comes equipped with six crash bags, along with advanced security features like shielded power door deadlocks and a Thatcham Category 1 alarm system.
Finally, the Tourneo features Ford’s 5G FordPass Connect modem, which allows owners to lock, unlock, or start the vehicle remotely via the FordPass app, as well as receive vehicle health alerts. The modem also supports wireless software updates to keep the Tourneo up to date without requiring a trip to the dealership.
On a lengthy launch route in the Western Cape in blustery winds, the Tourneo displayed excellent stability on the road with only minor steering correction need to keep it on the straight and narrow. On the route our fuel consumption was 9,2 l/100 km which, considering the external forces was not too shabby for such a large vehicle.

It features a new-look steering wheel in the form of a flattened oval – comfortable to work with – and this also proved accurate and with the right level of driver feedback, making the most of the swooping turns of the Western Cape Roads.
The larges glass areas and great interior space will certainly make this a vehicle of choice for both tour operators and families alike for the likes of game viewing or simply long scenic drives.
