In tandem with the workhorse van, Ford South Africa has introduced the heavily revised 8-seater Ford Torneo people carrier, initially as a 2,0-litre single turbo diesel with AdBlue and priced at R999 200.

Also built of the new platform developed for the van, the newcomer is launched with Trend specification as a long wheelbase variant driving via an 8-speed automatic transmission and Ford says additional models will join the Tourneo line-up later this year.

“Whether it’s an active family trip at the weekend or shuttling executives to the airport in style, comfort and refinement, Tourneo’s advanced connectivity, cutting-edge design and new luxury features make it the compelling choice in the multi-activity vehicle segment,” says Doreen Mashinini, General Manager for Marketing at Ford South Africa.

Thanks to its optimised platform, there is room aplenty in the cabin, with three rows of seats accommodating up to eight passengers, making it a practical choice for any adventure. And speaking of seats, the Tourneo's got a trick up its sleeve with a flexible track-mounted system in the second and third rows, allowing for easy adjustments to fit both people and luggage. Whether you are sliding them forward or backward or removing them altogether, customisation is key.Front 3 quarter view of the new Ford Torneo

But it's not just about versatility – the Ford Tourneo also prioritises your comfort on the road with features like tri-zone electronic climate control and heated seats for those chilly journeys.

Underneath, the Tourneo boasts an all-new architecture, offering a lower floor height and an integrated side step for easier entry and loading. Plus, its reduced overall height means it can navigate tight spaces with ease, while also improving efficiency and aerodynamics.

Both drivers and passengers will feel the difference with the Ford Tourneo's redesigned chassis, featuring an all-new independent rear suspension system for enhanced ride comfort and handling.

Inside, the cabin features a 13-inch touchscreen and a new 12-inch instrument cluster, packed with tech-savvy featuressuch as SYNC 4 infotainment system and wireless charging.

The Ford Tourneo is equipped with a 5G FordPass Connect modem, allowing owners to remotely lock or unlock the doors, remotely start the vehicle to cool or heat the cabin, and get vehicle-specific health alerts – all via the FordPass app. The modem also enables wireless Ford Power-Up software updates to improve Tourneo’s features and capabilities without requiring a trip to the dealership.

Included as standard is a 4-year/120 000 km Ford warranty, four-year/unlimited distance Roadside Assistance and five-year/unlimited distance corrosion warranty. The recommended service interval is 15 000 km or annually, whichever occurs first.
