Citroën is making a strong statement at the 2024 Paris Motor Show with the introduction of its all-new C4 and C4 X models and, stemming from increased momentum in recent years, the French automaker has completely revamped its C-segment saloon lineup, offering modernity, comfort and efficiency in these models.

Since its launch at the end of 2020, the Citroën C4 has established itself as a major player in the compact saloon market, ranking second in Europe for the first half of 2024 in the mainstream C-segment, trailing only the Volkswagen Golf. The C4's electric counterpart remains a leader in the C-segment EV market, ranked in the top five.

The refreshed C4 and C4 X models are more refined and mature, combining comfort and spaciousness with bold, modern aesthetics. Both vehicles have retained their distinctive identities, blending coupé-like styling with SUV-inspired elements. The most noticeable changes are in the front-end design, which features Citroën’s new logo on a reimagined grille.

In addition to exterior improvements, the interiors have been enhanced with Citroën Advanced Comfort seats and a new 7-inch digital instrument cluster to complement the 10-inch touchscreen.

In addition to its established 100 kW and 115 kW electric versions, Citroën is introducing the Hybrid 100 and Hybrid 136 models in 2024. These new variants offer an option for those seeking to reduce CO2 emissions without sacrificing performance. The C4 will also offer a 1,2-litre PureTech 130 EAT8 option for drivers looking for a petrol engine in select markets.

Citroën’s advancements in hybrid technology are particularly aimed at urban drivers, offering up to 50% of driving in electric mode, reducing fuel consumption and emissions. With no need for external charging, the hybrid powertrains ensure seamless transitions between electric and petrol power.

Both models come equipped with Citroën’s latest generation of technology, offering up to 20 driver assistance systems (ADAS), such as Active Safety Brake, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go, and Highway Driver Assist.

Fast-charging capabilities allow both vehicles to recover 80% of their charge in under 30 minutes, making long journeys hassle-free.

There is no indication yet which, if any, of these derivatives will be launched in South Africa.
