The Chery brand has made its comeback to the SA Market in the last quarter of 2021, and boy have they been successful. With offerings like their Chery Tiggo 4 Pro, the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro and the range topping Chery Tiggo 8 Pro
The Chery Tiggo 4 Pro is their Compact SUV offering and currently their best seller, the Tiggo 7 Pro is their midsize SUV offering, and the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro is their large SUV.
The Chery Tiggo 8 Pro is powered by a 1.6TGDI 4 cylinder petrol engine good for an impressive 145kW and 290Nm but the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max gets a strong 2.0TGDI 4 cylinder petrol producing a healthy 187kW and 390 NM
The Chery Tiggo 8 Pro and Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max are 7 seater SUV’s competing with the likes of the Mitsubishi Outlander, Hyundai SantaFe and the KIA Sorento.
The Chery Tiggo 8 Pro however has a trump card up its sleave and that comes down to pricing.

The Top spec Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max comes in at a whopping R230,000 less than the equivalent offerings, which is a massive difference.
So let's get down to business, the 8 Pro Max is packed with an abundance of gadgets and driving aids which include: Blind Spot Detection, Keyless Entry, Automatic Sensing Boot, Multiple Driving Modes, Adaptive Cruise Control, 360 Degree Camera. The list goes on.
The drive is comfortable and compliant, and the steering feel is acceptable, but I do prefer setting the steering mode to Sport, which makes the steering feel more direct.
Power delivery is effortless, and the 187kW is more than enough, making the Chery 8 Pro Max feel more agile and comfortable to drive.
On the inside, the cabin is well put together, no cheap plastics to be found, and it really feels premium and well put together.
Lastly, the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max also looks the part, it will still look modern even after a few years.
If you are in the market for a large family SUV and you need a premium, solid vehicle, don’t let this one fall under the radar.
