Chery is gearing up to introduce its all-new Tiggo Cross to the South African market in late October 2024, having given a preview of the newcomer at the recent Festival of Motoring at Kyalami.

Positioned between the Tiggo 4 Pro and Tiggo 7 Pro, the Tiggo Cross embraces Chery's design language, featuring a prominent shield-shaped grille decorated with intricate diamond patterns. This grille stretches across the front end, seamlessly connecting with the vertically positioned daytime running lights.

Chery’s design team has likened the front fascia to the powerful image of a tiger’s roar, enveloping the lights in a manner that embodies both strength and elegance.

“We aimed to enhance the product’s design by focusing on precision,” says Sajdin Osmancevic, Technical Director at Chery Design Centre. “The grille is a testament to the attention to detail in this vehicle, with sharp, deliberate lines that make a strong visual impact.”

The tiger motif extends beyond the grille, influencing other design elements, such as the slim triple-element headlamps and the unique taillight, which spans the entire width of the rear. The taillight’s design takes inspiration from the tiger’s distinctive striped coat. These details also align with Chery’s ‘Conquer & Guard’ philosophy, symbolising protection for the driver and their loved ones.

“The Tiggo Cross is built on a pure SUV platform,” added Neel Hariram, Head of Product at Chery South Africa. “We’ve spent the last three years gathering insights from local customers and feeding that data back to the Chinese Research and Development team. This collaboration has directly influenced the development of the Tiggo Cross, making it a model uniquely suited to the South African market.”
