Omoda, the luxury brand in the Chery stable, has signed a commitment to strive for a greener future that not only relates to the cars it builds, but to the entire value chain.

The partnership with the International Union doe Conservation of Nature (IUCN) was signed at the Chery heaquarters in Wuhu in the prescence of several hundred guest from all parts of the world and forms a commitment from the brand to shape the future according to the principles of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) while actively reducing the carbon footprint.

The 8023 Project is not just another corporate initiative; it's a plan brought to life during the Shanghai Auto Show and is essentially a global call to action that aims to unite 80 global NGOs and official organizations, all with one common goal – environmental improvement.

This initiative seeks to reduce carbon emissions through robust environmental protection efforts, not just locally, but globally. It's about building a new world, an ‘Oxygen Planet’.

From disaster relief to preserving forests, oceans, wetlands, and wildlife, it's a comprehensive approach to safeguarding the very essence of our planet.

The IUCN, founded in 1948, is the largest network of nature conservation professionals globally. With more than 1 400 member states, governmental agencies, non-governmental organizations, and a team of scientists from 160 countries, the IUCN's influence on international environmental policies is immense.

Their mission is clear - protect nature and its biodiversity. They do this by undertaking field projects worldwide, funded by various entities, with the ultimate goal of creating a fair world that respects and protects nature's diversity.

The shared vision between Omoda and IUCN is to embrace nature-based solutions, ushering in an era of natural benefits. The primary objective is to jointly develop a ground-breaking model for the protection and restoration of forests, wetlands and oceans.

Also, this partnership isn't limited to local boundaries; it's a global endeavor. It aims to achieve carbon neutrality, harness natural benefits, and promote sustainable development on a global scale.

“It sets a precedent, a challenge to other industry leaders to step up and take action. It's a reminder that the path to a greener, more sustainable future is one we must pave together, hand in hand,” says Chery Chairman, Yin Tongyue.

“As we take this path towards nature's prosperity, remember that it's not just about making a difference; it's about making a promise - a promise to be responsible stewards of our beautiful planet.

“By collaborating with IUCN, we aspire to enhance the impact of this young brand and its innovative and futuristic product, paving the way for a cutting-edge mobility experience for its forward-thinking drivers.”
